Product Overview/Applications

With its unique ability to adapt to four different research applications, the MF1000 offers an economical and flexible equipment platform. The base chamber itself can be fitted with one of four specially configured kits, and each kit is specifically designed for a particular application including:

  • Plant growth
  • Arabidopsis
  • Tissue culture
  • Incubation

By varying the configuration of the airflow, light, and shelving, each kit defines one of the four applications. The MA1000 is also available with several options such as phenolic coated coils and network communication. The phenolic coated coils enable the MF1000 to be used for entomology research while the communications option facilitates connection to a facility’s local area network.

Lighting

The lighting systems for the MF1000 incorporate high
efficiency T5H0 fluorescent lamps. Lighting system
configuration is determined by the application kit where
each kit stipulates a particular light intensity and lamp
canopy configuration. Lamp and ballast combinations have
been designed to ensure a balanced light spectrum while
light intensity levels are adjusted (AR & PG Kits only)
through a stepped selection process.

Airflow

Precisely designed and manufactured air plenums are used for each of the four application kits. The Plant Growth kit utilizes a solid rear plenum which discharges air from the floor for a uniform upward airflow. The Arabidopsis and Incubation kits both use a perforated rear plenum which discharges the air horizontally for maximum condition uniformity in view of the use of flats or similar research vessels. The Tissue Culture configuration incorporates individual air-shelves that discharge air vertically to reduce or eliminate condensation within media dishes.

Refrigeration

The standard air-cooled refrigeration system is optimized to ensure adequate capacity for delivery of uniform conditions regardless of the particular kit installed. Kits do not alter the configuration of the refrigeration system and as such, kits can be exchanged with minimal effort.

Experiment Protection

User programmable alarms for key parameters such as temperature and humidity monitor the actual conditions within the chamber and notify the User with both audible and visual alarms. Additional factory pre-set alarms monitor system integrity while an alarm history recorder tabulates alarm events for historical reference and service.

Lighting – Tissue Culture Chamber

Standard lighting for the Tissue Culture Chamber MTC80 is energy efficient fluorescent lamps. The lamps are separated from the growth area by a transparent barrier which minimizes heat transfer to the growing cultures. Lamp and ballast heat are controlled and managed by the refrigeration system. Lighting control provides three light levels and is monitored by a quantum light meter and displayed in micromoles/m²/s on the controller’s status screen for user readout.

 

Airflow – Tissue Culture Chamber

Airflow is distributed uniformly upward from each air shelf which helps to ensure a consistent temperature zone over each shelf Tissue Culture Chamber. Filtered and adjustable fresh air intake and exhaust openings enable researchers to exchange air to the chamber in a controlled manner up to 20ft3/min (0.57m3/min.) in Tissue Culture Chamber.

The MGR series of plant growth room , available in six standard sizes, is a highly economical platform for providing a controlled environment in a walk-in configuration. This series of chamber offers low to moderate level light intensities using multiple light canopies. The temperature range is narrower than on other Meditech plant growth room which affords greater energy efficiency and economy. The MGR plant growth room , available in six standard sizes, is a highly economical platform for providing a controlled environment in a walk-in configuration. This series of plant growth room offers low to moderate level light intensities using multiple light canopies. The temperature range is narrower than on other Meditech walk-in chambers which affords greater energy efficiency and economy. The multi-lamp-canopy configuration enables researchers to have several experiments running simultaneously with plants at varying levels of maturity.

Lighting – plant growth room

The standard lighting package for the plant growth room MGR series is a low to moderate level light intensity design that incorporates both fluorescent and incandescent lamps. This ensures a broad based light spectrum that is ideally suited for plant growth room. Multiple lighting levels are provided with the ability to program lamp groups separately while the adjustable Light right canopy enables the researcher to easily raise and lower the lamps to the desired height. Higher light intensities area available on this model plant growth room.

Airflow – plant growth room

The airflow in plant growth room design directs air downward along the center aisle way. Air is then redirected returning upward between the plants and through the lamp canopies. Filtered and adjustable fresh air intake enables researchers to exchange air to the chamber in a controlled manner.

Refrigeration – plant growth room

Cooling for the MGR series is provided by a self-contained water-cooled condensing unit with hot gas bypass for continuous compressor operation. An electronic modulating valve provides tight temperature control while ensuring quiet operation. Pressure transducers are included for monitoring the status of the refrigeration system. Alternative refrigeration methods are available depending on site-specific and/or user defined requirements. Consult the factory for heat rejection information and other refrigeration options plant growth room.

Experiment Protection – plant growth room

User programmable “set and forget” alarms track the chamber’s operation versus user-defined set points. plant growth room allows for exceptionally accurate monitoring without the need for adjustment every time the set point is redefined. Backup “high/ low” alarms provide a further level of protection while visual and audible notification is provided when any alarm is activated.
